Thank you to all who came out for our campaign launch. Your support means everything! Thank you for your support! April 2026 Since launching my campaign for County Council District 6, support from across the community has been incredible. Thank you to everyone who has hosted or attended an event, signed up to participate, donated to our campaign, or offered support and encouragement. Your positivity and commitment to making a difference in our local community keeps me inspired and determined to keep working for our community. There is so much we can achieve when we come together, dream big and work hard. That is the approach I've always taken and I've seen the results first hand in places like Carr's/Elktonia Beach, the Annapolis City Dock, new parks and trails across our region, and new and sustainable transportation options -- to name just a few examples. I have no doubt that we can bring this same problem-solving spirit and collaboration to issues across our District and County -- from education, to affordability, to jobs and the local economy. So thank you for joining me on this journey. I know that we have challenges ahead but we also have incredible strengths and opportunities as a community and I truly believe there is no problem too big or too hard for us to solve when we work together, and act locally. Talking with supporters at the campaign launch A People-Powered Campaign In 2023 Anne Arundel County established public financing for local elections – a voluntary small-dollar matching system aimed at reducing the influence of large donations in our political process. I've decided to use the County’s Public Financing Program because I want to run a people-powered campaign. This decision is my commitment to you that I will be accountable to residents, not big donors. The Baltimore Banner recently published an article on the public financing system:  “The county's Public Campaign Financing Fund, established three years ago and in effect for this election, offers a clear alternative. Candidates who participate agree to cap individual donations at $250 in exchange for matching public funds… The real question now is whether voluntary reform can gain real traction… the answer will not come from legislation alone but from the choices voters make.” You can read the full article in the Baltimore Banner. To be eligible for public finance, our campaign can only accept donations from individuals. Contributions from PACs, companies and corporations, political parties, and unions are all prohibited. Another requirement is that candidates for County Council must receive at least 75 contributions from Anne Arundel County residents and raise at least $7,500. These minimums ensure that only candidates with a broad base of community support are able to receive public funds. Thanks to your amazing support, we recently filed our first campaign report and appear to be on track to qualify. We will know more in the next couple of weeks but in the meantime - thank you! I will work hard to honor the faith shown in me and will always fight for the causes and priorities that create good jobs, a strong public school system, and access and equity for all.
